Money Can Buy An Election

I don't begrudge the way gazillionaires spend their money, but when they move to a state for the exclusive purpose of running for an elected office, it kind of pisses me off. The question is who besides the gazillionaire benefits from this tactic of buying a race? It certainly isn't the long time inhabitants of the state who trudge to work day-after-day working hard to make ends meet. And, I doubt that neither Jeff Greene's or Rick Scott's meddling in politics benefits their chosen party nor party supporters. To serve in government was intended for the betterment of the governed and government, I don't see either of these two using elected office as an effort to serve the people. It's just another way for them to enrich themselves and their wallets. And, don't we have enough of those politicians in office already? I can only question their motives and conclude that they are using their money to buy political power. And, it's the people who suffer the consequences when those with money corrupt and rob the electorate.

The audacity that the Republican Party has to block a bill to help 9/11 survivors and the first responders. If we fail to recognize their sacrifice, can we expect their help when we need it?

Absolutely outrageous, the new Republican platform in Iowa wants to enforce the failed 13th Amendment, because the President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Large majorities oppose extending Bush tax cuts

"Even 40 percent of Republicans say they should be allowed to expire--19 percent say repeal them just for the wealthy, and 21 percent for everyone. That suggests that 40 percent of Republicans, who have been hearing the deficit hysteria since Barack Obama took office, are smarter than your average congressional Republican or deficit peacock. They understand the connection between tax cuts for the wealthy and the deficit." Joan McCarter

Is Florida Next?

G.O.P.'s Florida Governor Candidate Rick Scott supports measures like the Arizona law that allow enforcement of already existing laws according to his Website. Do we really need the contingents of Arizona's SB1070 in Florida? We are putting our migrant work force in jeopardy of leaving the state for the fear of questioning their immigration status. The ones who work in 90 degree plus heat to get the produce to market so we can have fresh fruits and vegetables on our tables. This proposition echoes the Jim Crow laws that were found unconstitutional. Every person of Hispanic descent can be endangered by this type of legislation.
